Objectives#
The project 'Publication of Environmental Data' aims for four goals:
- Definition of a standard procedure for publication of observational data including documentation of quality assurance actions
The standard procedure defines which (meta)data have to be collected and which steps have to be performed in the course of data publication.
- Development of a web-based software system which leads the researcher through the metadata entering as well as assists the publication agent to finalize the process
The workflow system guides the scientist through the publication process and helps the publication agent to check and verify the entered data.
- Integration of the software system into the existing central data repository for meteorology (Word Data Center for Climate (WDCC))
As part of the project the workflow system has to be integrated into the IT infrastructure at WDCC.
- Generalisation of the defined process for other environmental sciences
In the end we want to provide an easy-to-use software which can be tailored to the needs of data publication in similar sciences.
